該当する作品の大半は元が日本語である。アニメやアニソン、ゲーム、ボカロ曲などなど。視聴者は既に内容を日本語で体験済みであることが多いが、わざわざ馴染みの薄い外国語に挑むのにはいくつか理由が挙げられよう。

まず考えられるのは、英語をむしろ馴染み深いものにしたいからである。好きな作品の助けを借りて難しい単語や複雑な表現を理解し、さらには自分の物にするチャンスなのだ。

一方で、違いを楽しむ人たちもいる。単純に面白がる人から格好いいと感じる人まで。そう、なんたって我々日本人には英語は格好良く響くものだ。得てして、本当は何を言ってるのなんてどうでもよかったりもする。ていうかどさくさに紛れて適当に日本語使ってもバレへんかもね。ま、時には言葉よりも雄弁に語ってくれるものもあろう。

無論、元が英語という場合もある。そんなときには、翻訳で何かが失われてないか確かめたいこともあるだろう。残念ながら、日本語訳（映画の字幕も含め）が酷くて「英語の方がまだ分かるわ！」と皮肉られてしまうことは結構ある。
